Ongoing projects

Application to neurodegenerative diseases:

Research of genetic and proteic susceptibility markers of chronic degenerative diseases (Alzheimer, 3 patents) The goals are the identification of molecular tools for susceptibility and diagnostics, and propositions of innovative therapies in terms of pharmacogenetics

Genoscreen is the coordinator of the MEDIALZ collaborative project, that aims to the creation and perpetuation of a reference center able to optimize and boost research on Alzheimer's disease and the development and transfer of that research to the patient in the short and long term.

Partners : Genoscreen, Alzprotect, Inserm U744-3, Inserm U837-1 and CMRR Lille-Bailleul.

Development of molecular microbiology tools:

Development of methods and kits for typing and characterization of pathogenic microorganisms in collaboration with clinicians and academic partners. Development of a MIRU-VNTR typing kit for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex with INSERM U629.Development of softwares for genetic analysis - Platform for genome annotation for prokaryotic operon prediction - Comparative genomics - Transcriptomics ...

Focus: FP7 Health Patho-Ngen-Trace : HEALTH 2011.1.1-1: SME-targeted research for developing tools & technologies for high-throughput research

Genoscreen is a partner of the european Patho-Ngen-Trace project that aims to use Next generation sequencing technologies for health and industrial microbiology.

The project will focus on Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, Staphylococcus aureus and Campylobacter spp, as well as on bioinformatics development.

This european consortium is constituted by Genoscreen, Applied Maths (Belgium), Ridom (Germany), Piext BV (Netherlands), Eurice (Germany), le Borstel Research Center (Germany), the West-fälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Germany),  and the University of Oxford (UK).

Bioinformatics :

Development of softwares for genetic analysis - Platform for genome annotation for prokaryotic operon prediction - Comparative genomics - Transcriptomics ...

Biodiversity :

Development of a method for production of microsatellites libraries based on next generation sequencing. The technique has been validated on 160 different libraries sequenced at Genoscreen's. From 1 μg genomic DNA, this technologies cette technologie provides a minimum of 8000 sequences in the record time of a month and a half.
